Jen kola

My equestrian pursuits began in the 1970s. I began lessons at Fleetwood Farm on Route 53 in Pembroke, with Carl Catani, who now owns River Wind Farm. A few years later, I was directed up the street to Friars Gate Farm owned by Julie and Richard Ulrich. Here I was introduced to Show Jumping, Hunters and Dressage.

While attending Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts I was Co-Captain of the riding Team from 1981-1984. In the years to follow I met Suzi and Jim Gornall and evented through Training Level riding in beautiful open space at Huntington Farm, Stoneleigh Burnham, Groton House and King Oak.

Lately, my instruction is of a more recreational nature. I incorporate some Dressage in all my lessons, jumping for the more adventurous students and an emphasis on harmony and balance with your equine partner.

Priscilla clark

Priscilla started riding as an adult at age 44 when she moved to Concord, MA and quickly gravitated towards eventing which she pursued successfully for the next 12 years up to the prelim level. She competed all over New England, and regularly attended clinics with Michael Plumb, Bruce Davidson, Denny Emerson, Michael Page and James Wofford. Her second year at Training Level she was selected as one of four riders to represent the Area 1 team at the nationals in Gladstone, NJ. Priscilla started her riding career hunting with Old North Bridge Hounds, where she earned her colors, and rode with the Norfolk Hunt until she retired.

Priscilla has over 8 years of teaching and coaching experience as a licensed instructor and particularly enjoys working with adults. “I started riding midlife,” she says “and know full well what the challenges are – physically, emotionally and mentally.” But she stresses that adults have a great deal to work with. “It is never, ever too late to start riding!”

Ryleigh Doyle

Ryleigh, now 21, got her start in riding when she was 9 years old taking weekly lessons at a small barn down the road. She rode purely for fun until she was around 14 years old when she decided to move barns to train with Zina Baltopolous in order to progress her riding further and begin showing. She got her first horse when she was 15 years old, who took her around her first recognized events and helped her fall in love with the sport of eventing. Ryleigh now competes at training level with her new partner Nash who she recently got the ride on. She is fortunate enough to train and compete in Ocala FL during the winter months to continue her education in the sport.

Ryleigh has known the Hughes family for several years now and often goes out fox hunting with Owen in the fall season. She has begun teaching and riding for Canton this spring and is eager to take on new clients.

Laurel Hughes

Laurel's equestrian journey began with a gift certificate for riding lessons at age 9. Immersing herself in all aspects of farm life to support her passion, she helped with horse care, camp programs, lessons, and shows. Initially competing locally with catch rides, Laurel progressed to junior equitation medal classes.

She continued her involvement in various equestrian roles, including horse management and instruction, as well as competed locally in equitation, hunter, and jumper events. Presently, she enjoys a more leisurely approach to riding with her semi-retired 23-year-old Dutch Warmblood, Response.

As a dedicated instructor, Laurel takes pleasure in teaching horsemanship and riding skills to beginner to intermediate students of all ages, finding fulfillment in their accomplishments. In her role as Barn Manager, she prioritizes creating a safe, enjoyable, and educational environment for students to thrive.
